DESTINY = Spirit in Word and Deed!

Work on YOU!

CartwrightJ2017How time flies

It is easy to point out the faults in others.
It’s easy to see what others should do to improve themselves.
But how easy is it to work on YOU?
Look at yourself in the mirror.
Are you happy with what you see?
I’m too old.
I’m too fat.
I’m too lazy.

What is good about you?
I am determined to succeed.
I work hard to accomplish my goals.
I take the time to learn about who I am and what is my destiny.

Loving yourself is the challenge that each and every person is faced with. Too many people think that their purpose is to help others, to improve others, to fix others, or to save others. Think of those who were glorified for doing just that.

The same people that Jesus of Nazareth tried to teach the truth about themselves in relation to their Creator called for his crucifixion.

The infamous entertainer Josephine Baker adopted 16 children from all nationalities and she was ostracized by the French and left to die in poverty.

An admirable leader of the American people, John F. Kennedy did his best to bring peace to the United States and end the cold war with Russia. He was assassinated by one of his own.

Malcolm X was a spokesman for Blacks in America. He neglected his wife and children to deliver the message of freedom to others. He was killed in a Mosque in New York by a gunman.

Mother Teresa dedicated her life to the poor. Teresa had a heart attack in Rome in 1983 while she was visiting Pope John Paul II. Following a second attack in 1989, she received an artificial pacemaker. In 1991, after a bout of pneumonia in Mexico, she had additional heart problems. Although Teresa offered to resign as head of the Missionaries of Charity, in a secret ballot the sisters of the congregation voted for her to stay and she agreed to continue.[67] In April 1996 she fell, breaking her collarbone, and four months later she had malaria and heart failure. Although Teresa had heart surgery, her health was clearly declining. According to Archbishop of Calcutta Henry Sebastian D’Souza, he ordered a priest to perform an exorcism (with her permission) when she was first hospitalized with cardiac problems because he thought she might be under attack by the devil.[68]  On 13 March 1997 Teresa resigned as head of the Missionaries of Charity, and she died on 5 September. Both Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nina Simone worked tirelessly to proclaim the rights of all human beings, especially Africans in America. King was assassinated and Simone was declared insane by many of her followers.

Mahatma Gandhi dedicated his life to raising the consciousness of his people in India.  He was assassinated by a right-wing Hindu nationalist.

Indira Gandhi won favor for working to make her country strong. She was assassinated by her own Sikh bodyguards. But she was revered nevertheless.

Each of these public figures, Jesus of Nazareth, Josephine Baker, Martin Luther King, Jr., Nina Simone, Malcolm X, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, and Indira Gandhi worked on themselves to be enlightened. Each devoted their lives to the upliftment and enlightenment of others. Each was tormented by the people they helped or suffered severe health problems.

The moral of this post is that working on YOU and loving YOU is the most important thing in life. You cannot save others. You can only be an example to them. Protect yourself at all times. Live to be a light for others in this very dark world.
